    ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS

A good bathroom combines function and design.

Bathroom Accessories are the close friends of both.

Visualise your daily bathroom 'workflow' - Know your regular cleansing and grooming rituals and then let your bathroom accessories help you.

Here are some recommendations to help -

Mirrors - A main mirror and a magnifying mirror to assist with makeup application and removal or shaving.

Rubbish and Laundry Bins - Dirty towels, clothes, empty containers etc.

Hooks - Useful behind doors or near the shower for a bathrobe or towels.

Shelves - For items you want close at hand for immediate use.

Wall Cabinet - Stores items you need less often or for spares. Keeps them handy and tidy.

Holders - Individual soap, tumbler or toothbrush holders or select a combination fitting.

Towel Rails, Racks or Rings - Available in a variety of sizes so choose based on wall space and the towels you use.

Vanity Top Accessories - Fun because you can change these as often as you wish for flexible colour and design. Keeps useful articles like a favourite soap bar, tweezers, cottons buds, nail files and clippers close but neat.

Finally make a list of all the articles you'll need in your bathroom. Does everthing have a home? Will it be convenient and easy to find?

    Showers need storage.

Once your showering then leaving to find a full shampoo bottle is unpleasant.

    Here are some recommendations -

Shower Baskets - A wired frame that drains and offers space for shampoos, conditioners, spoinges, soap, etc.

Shower Shelf with Rim - Place high on the wall above your showerhead. Provides extra storage accessible while your showering.

Hooks - Useful to hang a brush, sponge, flannel.

Fluid Dispenser - Wall mounted dispenser holding commonly used fluid like shampoo, soap and conditioners. Hotels really like them.

Glass Wiper - Wipe water off shower glass before it dries. Looks better and saves cleaning time.

Chrome is the most popular finish for bathroom fittings and hardware.

Unlike most metals chrome is extremely hard and does not oxidise in air, thereby eliminating the need for regular polishing.

All our chromed fittings are constructed from brass that has been nickel plated and then a thick layer of chrome is electro-chemically deposited across the entire surface.

Nickel provides lustre, brilliance and corrosion prevention, while the chrome  contributes colour and tarnish resistance.

The result is a very bright and durable finish.

A clean, hygenic and pleasant toilet.

Toiletbrush holder - Wallmounted or on the floor with a good brush that won't damage your toilet bowl and a removable insert for easier cleaning.

Wallmounted makes for easier floor mopping.

Toiletroll Holder - A good sized model that will hold standard and extra long rolls.

Spare Roll Holder - Just in case.

Hooks - Behind the door of one the wall. For a coat, dressing gown, etc a nice touch in a toilet used by visitors

Shelf or Small Cabinet - Storage for cleaning materials, toilet rolls or any little extra you might need.

Framed timber walls are common in New Zealand homes. The wood framing can provide excellent fixing points for screw-fixed mirrors, cabinets, and bathroom accessories, but it doesn't cover the entire wall and may not be in the desired position.

Waiting until after wall linings are installed is too late. Finding a stud or nog becomes guesswork.

    Here are some suggestions:

Ask your builder to install a sheet of plywood in the areas requiring accessories. For example, around and above basins for mirrors, tumbler and soap holders, towel rails, and cabinets. Beside your toilet for toilet roll holders and brushes. Take photos and measurements once open framing is complete and before lining the wall. Remember that your elevations will change when floor coverings are installed, so allow for this.
